Orofacial myofunctional disorders (OMD), sometimes called an “oromyology"
and “tongue thrust," are disorders of the face, mouth, lips, or jaw. OMDs may affect breastfeeding,
facial skeletal growth and development, chewing, swallowing, speech patterns, occlusion, temporomandibular
joint movement, oral hygiene,stability of orthodontic treatment, facial aesthetics, and more.
Effective January 2021, licensed physical therapists, occupational therapists, and registered nurses will become eligible to take certification courses, pending application and approval from the BOD

A 4-day course for speech, dental, and medical professionals only, this course will allow participants to absorb the multi-disciplinary approach to diagnosing and treating OMD's. Learn the science of orofacial myology, comprehensive assessment skills, and implementing effective treatment planning based on applied learning procedures. Participants who complete these course are eligible to apply to begin the IAOM Certification process and COM®.

We educate professionals with a
comprehensive and instructive course focused on the proper diagnosis of OMDs and their effective treatment.
This is an IAOM approved program for education in orofacial myology and offers up to 2.8 ASHA CEUs and/or 28 AGD and IAOM CEUs.

The International Association of Orofacial Myology (IAOM) is designated as approved PACE Provider by the Academy of General Dentistry. The formal continuing education programs of the program provider are accepted by the AGD for Fellowship, Mastership, and membership maintenance credit. Approval does not imply acceptance by a state or provincial board of dentistry or AGD endorsement.The current term of approval extends from Oct 2015-2019. IAOM ID# 218851
The International Association of Orofacial Myology is approved by the Continuing Education Board of the American Speech-Language Hearing Association (ASHA) to provide continuing education activities in speech-language pathology and audiology. MARY is the founder and owner of Billings Speech Pathology Services, a private practice established in 1994. She is the Past President of the IAOM, a member of the Board of Directors for the Oral Motor Institute (OMI), an active member of the American Academy of Private Practitioners for Speech Pathology & Audiology (AAPPSPA) as well as a member of the Missouri Sleep Society and the American Academy of Physiological Medicine & Dentistry (AAPMD). Her private practice has serviced hundreds of individuals with this disorder over the years. Mary shares a very knowledgeable, supportive, and enthusiastic educational program with her students.

Working collaboratively with Mary Billings, she shares her true love and extensive experience in the diagnosis and treatment of individuals with orofacial myofunctional disorders.
